Room 23: Lola’s pied a terre

Whatever Lola wants, Lola gets, and Lola wants a sunny king bedroom with a gas fireplace, jacuzzi, private deck and sensational Vermont views. Our grandmother, Lola Wasserstein, always stayed in this room when she would visit from New York City. Lola was a legend, a true original and frequent muse for her daughter, playwright Wendy Wasserstein. Lola was the moxie and strength behind all of her children's remarkable success. “I am.” declared Lola. And she was. Lola is remembered for her style, her dancing and her zest for life.

This corner room in our Equinox Views Villa is a quick walk to The Wilburton mansion. There is a connecting door to Room 24 for guests who would like a suite. In addition to the gas fireplace, private deck and jacuzzi, there are hardwood floors, mini fridge, ensuite bathroom, flat screen TV, free WiFi, window A/C, pet friendly, ground floor. 285 square feet.

The American Dream Room 24

This is the most luxurious villa guest room on the estate. It has a jacuzzi, glass shower, king bed, gas fireplace and private deck with a sensational view of Mount Equinox.

It is named for our grandfather, Morris Wasserstein, who epitomized the American Dream. Grandpa and his brothers escaped from Poland and arrived at Ellis Island in 1935. Grandpa's mother died on the boat to America and he and his brothers made their way from a one room tenement on the Lower East Side to penthouse apartments on the Upper East Side. The Wasserstein brothers always worked together. They graduated from Stuyvesant high school and Cooper Union college and eventually created velveteen. Grandpa loved walking from 77th Street to their ribbon factory on 18th Street (in what is now Metropolitan Pavilion.) This room will soon be decorated with the Wasserstein Brother’s signature red velvet.

Room 24 is a sun-drenched King bedroom with a private deck that offers sensational views of Mount Equinox and the Green Mountains. It connects with room 23. This recently remodeled king guest room features a gas fireplace and a bathroom with a jacuzzi tub and separate glass shower. Hardwood floors, oriental rugs, mini fridge, ensuite bathroom, flat screen TV, free Wifi, window A/C, pet friendly, ground floor. 285 square feet.

Room 25: Sandra’s English Garden

Sandra's English Garden is a romantic, spacious king guest room with a gas fireplace and high mahogany bed. There's a chaise lounge by the fire, the perfect place to curl up with a good book.

Sandra Meyer was the eldest of the Wasserstein siblings. Sandra inspired the role of Sara Goode in Wendy Wasserstein's Broadway hit, 'The Sisters Rosensweig.' Sandra was a legendary marketing executive who began her career in England and went on the shatter the glass ceiling in New York City. She was the first female product-group manager at General Foods, in 1969; the first female president of a division of American Express in 1980; and the first female to run corporate affairs as a senior officer at Citicorp, in 1989. Sandra was always the smart big sister. We all miss her very much.

Spacious ensuite bathroom with a shower/tub. Mini fridge, ensuite bathroom, flat screen TV, free Wifi, window A/C, pet friendly, ground floor. 255 square feet.

Room 26: Wendy Wasserstein’s Writing Room

Our Aunt Wendy Wasserstein was a beloved playwright who was known for being the female voice of her generation. Her play, The Heidi Chronicles, won the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize. She won the hearts of so many fans because her witty, wise, and poignant plays spoke for all Uncommon Women. Wendy lived in Greenwich Village and the Upper West Side (in the same building as Madonna!) but she often felt most at home checking into the Lowell Hotel where she lived in between apartments. She would often go for a ‘staycation’ at The Lowell to write her plays. Innkeeper Melissa fondly remembers a weekend she shared with Wendy at a grand hotel in Florence, Italy where they shared a room with a view. So, it seems fitting to name this huge king room with a beautiful view for Wendy. The room has many of Wendy’s plays and books and articles. Wendy loved playing hooky from highschool at Ethical Culture by going shopping at Bergdorf’s and Bonwit Teller, so this purple floral room seems fitting to carry Wendy's namesake!

This is an extremely spacious south-facing king bedroom with breathtaking views of Mount Equinox and the Green Mountains. This guest room features a canopy, four-poster bed and chaise lounge to bask in the view from the oversized picture windows. Located in our Equinox View Villa, there is an ensuite bathroom. mini fridge, flat screen TV, free Wifi, window A/C, pet friendly, ground floor. 275 square feet

Room 27: ABNER’S ROOM

This wheelchair accessible room with 2 double beds is named for our mother's brother, Abner, who was the secret of the ultra successful Wasserstein family. Abner came down with a fever when he was 5, before antibiotics were invented, and sadly he was never fully healthy afterwards. Abner lived apart from the family in a group home near Ithaca, NY. A poet and activist, he wrote letters to President Clinton advocating for fellow handicapped Americans. This happy room is dedicated to Abner's indefatigable couragous spirit and joy.

Room 27 is a ground floor room with two double beds and hardwood floors in our Equinox Views Villa. This room offers convenience with a mini fridge, microwave and bar sink. It makes a wonderful 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom suite when combined with the adjacent Presidential Suite next door.

The handicapped specifications are: bed height: 22 inches, clearance under the sink: 27 1/2 inches, lip in the shower 4 1/2 inches, clearance of front door: 33 inches, clearance of bathroom door: 29 1/2 inches. Ground floor. 225 square feet.

Room 28: The PRESIDENTIAL Suite

This Presidential Suite is a complete 1000 sq foot apartment. The king master bedroom has an oversized picture window with unparalleled views of the mountains. The master bathroom features a spa shower. The living room has a flat screen TV, gas fireplace, leather couches and a new queen size pull out couch. The eat-in kitchen has new appliances and a washer/dryer. Best of all, there is a large marble patio with chaise lounges, a dining table for summer night parties and dining al fresco.

This is an apartment fit for 'Bid' em up Bruce', Georgette's younger brother Bruce Wasserstein, who graduated from Harvard Business and Law School to become a self made billionaire. Bruce was a Wall Street legend. He was one of the first investment bankers in the '80s at First Boston and then created his own bank, Wasserstein Perella. He was chairman of Lazard.

This ground floor suite may be combined with Room 27 next door or all the bedrooms in the Villa.
Ground floor, hardwood floors, ensuite master bathroom, 2 flat screen TVs, gas fireplace, full kitchen, living room, games, BBQ, free wifi, window A/C. Dog friendly.
